Ava DuVernay hails Netflix's When They See Us full-page New York Times ad for "thwarting (Trump's) lies"

DuVernay noted that Donald Trump took out an ad in the very same newspaper 30 years ago essentially that condemned the so-called Central Park Five. "In May 1989, Trump took out a full page ad in the @NYTimes pushing the idea of the death penalty around the case of the Central Park Five," DuVernay wrote on Instagram. "This week, 30 years later, @Netflix took out a full-page ad celebrating their story and thwarting his lies.”
