Julia Garner to lead Shonda Rhimes' Anna Delvey series, joining Laverne Cox and Anna Chlumsky

The Emmy-winning Ozark star will play the lead role in Rhimes' 10-episode Netflix limited series Inventing Anna, based on scammer Anna "Delvey" Sorokin and the New York Magazine article "How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People." Collider reported last week Garner was in talks to play Delvey. Inventing Anna will also co-star Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox, Veep's Anna Chlumsky, The Bold Type's Alexis Floyd and Scandal's Katie Lowes, who's reuniting with Rhimes. Inventing Anna revolves around Chlumsky's hungry journalist character, who investigates Delvey, the Instagram-infamous German heiress who “stole the hearts of New York’s social scene — and stole their money as well." Cox will playa celebrity trainer and life coach "who gets sucked into the Anna whirlwind." Lowes will play a woman who blindly worships Delvey and Floyd will take on the role of a filmmaker working as a hotel concierge who gets taken by Anna's charm.
