Meltdown Comics, where The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail got its start, to close after 25 years

  • Kumail Nanjiani and Jonah Ray's Comedy Central series originated as a weekly live show in 2010 inside the Sunset Blvd comic book shop, which became a beloved Los Angeles landmark. Nerdist partnered with Meltdown to launch a small stage showcase for alternative comedy, which helped Nanjiani, his wife Emily V. Gordon and Ray show their comedy chops to industry executives. Meltdown Comics was also a special place for Riverdale's Cole Sprouse: "#Meltdown cultivated my love of comics throughout my childhood," he tweeted. 'These guys were the first I told when I booked jughead on Riverdale. I interned here before college, they ushered me into photography, and clapped when I went back into acting."
