There was a lot of speculation that Season 2 would be And Just Like That…’s last. Some have been speculating the series coming to an end ever since the promotional poster for the season was released — The Last Supper imagery, some argued, meant that this was it for Carrie and gang. That reasoning was carried over when the final two episodes of the season both had the exact words “The Last Supper” in their titles.

Kim Cattrall’s highly anticipated (but ultimately out of place) cameo also seemed to signal some sort of big ending. Knowing how adamant the actress was to never return to the series, it felt like she was maybe given a detail about the entire franchise coming to an end to entice her back one more time.

On August 22, however, Max debunked both theories and announced that the series was renewed. Here’s everything we know about And Just Like That… Season 3.

Where did we leave everyone at the end of And Just Like That… Season 2?

The final episode of Season 2, “The Last Supper Part Two: Entree,” provided closure for almost everyone. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) was able to get on good terms with both of her recent exes, Steve (David Eigenberg) and Che (Sara Ramírez). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Harry (Evan Handler) came to an understanding about their shared domestic workload after Charlotte returned to work at an art gallery. Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and Nya (Karen Pittman) each landed a man after a season of being single. Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) let go of guilt she felt about her miscarriage. Even Samantha (Kim Cattrall) popped in to say goodbye to Carrie’s apartment and provide some sense of relief that these two are on good terms again.

The only person whose life became more complicated following the farewell dinner was Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker). She did close one chapter of her life in dramatic fashion, saying goodbye to the apartment she’s held onto for decades with a Michelin-star meal and 15 of her (supposedly) closest friends. But Aidan (John Corbett) showed up at exactly the wrong time to tell her that he needed to stop his trips to New York altogether to keep an eye on his kids. Now, Carrie is left in limbo with the promise that he’ll be ready in five years to come back to the giant, empty home she bought for them.

At least Carrie now has a cat named Shoe to help fill some of the space, not to mention a friend like Seema who will whisk her away to Greece at a moment’s notice.

What will Season 3 of And Just Like That… be about?

So far, the only official hints of what’s to come are vague. “We are thrilled to spend more time in the ‘Sex And The City’ universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” creator Michael Patrick King said in Max’s official renewal announcement.

There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to Carrie and Aidan’s future. Are they now single and allowed to have some fun until his kids are no longer taking mushrooms and driving trucks into trees? Is this going to be a long-distance relationship without contact? Surely Aidan could fly to NYC or Carrie could hop over to Virginia every once in a while. Figuring out that dynamic could take center stage in an upcoming season.

Miranda and Charlotte are now fully immersed in their careers again — there are plenty of opportunities for more celebrities to stop by Charlotte’s gallery for some art or for Miranda to become a regular commentator on human rights issues.

Season 2 also gave the next generation of the And Just Like That… cast more to do, from Rock’s brief modeling career to Lily losing her virginity to Brady’s earth-shattering break-up. Season 3 could give these kids even more space in each episode, especially if Lily and Brady’s relationship blossoms.

Who is in the cast of And Just Like That… Season 3?

Though there’s been no official casting announcement as of yet, it seems safe to assume that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, all of whom are also executive producers on the series, will return. Also likely to come back are the new batch of besties — Sarita Choudhury, Karen Pittman, and Nicole Ari Parker — as well as Sara Ramírez, Mario Cantone, Evan Handler, and the kids: Niall Cunningham, Cathy Ang, and Alexa Swinton.

Will Kim Cattrall be in And Just Like That… Season 3?

While Kim Cattrall’s cameo may have sparked some hope that she’ll return again, it’s best not to get our hopes up. For one, her short appearance in the Season 2 finale came with a lot of strings attached: she filmed her “no contact” appearance without seeing or speaking to creator Michael Patrick King or any of the stars of the series, and Cattrall requested that Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Fields, who has not been working on And Just Like That…, return to dress Samantha. It’s likely that Cattrall would make production jump through even more hoops for her to return.

During an appearance on Today in June, Cattrall confirmed that that’s the last we’ll see of Samantha. “That’s as far as I’m going to go,” she told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

When will And Just Like That… premiere?

Season 3 has yet to start filming, so it will be a while until it drops. About a year and a half passed between the premiere of Season 1 and the premiere of Season 2, so by that metric it’s possible Season 3 will debut in Winter 2024.
