"We deserve better options than two octogenarians," said Griffin.

Whoopi Goldberg didn't beat around the bush Tuesday morning when she accused Alyssa Farah Griffin of being "ageist" for criticizing President Joe Biden's "sharpness."

As the ladies discussed whether Biden's age — he turns 82 in 2024 — will factor into his reelection plans, Whoopi suggested the question itself is rude. "No disrespect for the older people in the country who are actually doing their thing and have been doing their thing really beautifully," she said. "But that's okay, they say he's turning 80, thank god he's made it — that's how I look at it."

"Asking the question of 'Who is best fit to beat Donald Trump?' because that man should never be president again, I'm not sure I think it's Joe Biden," replied Griffin. "The fact that David Axelrod, senior Obama and Biden advisor, came out and said, 'He's going to be 82.' It's not about age. I don't think he has the same strength and sharpness I saw five years ago with Biden, and I have tremendous respect for the man. So I'm curious, who are the Dems going to run? Where's the Obama energy that we could bring?"

Whoopi insisted we don't "need Obama energy," just "somebody who can get the country back in line." Added the longtime moderator, "If you can name me a Republican who has a shot to do that, that's what I'm more interested in."

Sunny Hostin answered Whoopi's question by criticizing "Death-Santis" — "He's a fascist and a bigot," she said of the Florida governor — before reminding the panel that Trump is only a few years younger than Biden. "I hate this talk about people saying he's too old," she said. "If the former, twice-impeached, disgraced president thinks he's such a spring chicken, he's gonna be 78 when Joe Biden is 81. So I don't like this ageism argument."

"I would just love to see a sane Republican run," said Griffin. "We deserve better options than two octogenarians, one of whom tried to overthrow the government."

The View's theme music began to play, but Whoopi ignored it. "Wooo!" she said, making her displeasure clear. "I have to tell you — it is the age! You're being ageist, and I'm gonna say it!"

As Griffin argued that her criticism is "specific to the individual," Whoopi noted that Ronald Reagan developed Alzheimer's when "he was much younger than 80." Added Whoopi, "And I don't think that's what's going to make it happen. It's not your energy, it's what you can get done!"

Elsewhere on The View... Griffin confirmed that Rudy Giuliani was intoxicated the night of the 2020 election, as senior campaign official Jason Miller testified to the January 6 committee. "I would not want to speak out of turn, but I saw Rudy Giuliani in the East Room election night. I would say he appeared inebriated," said Griffin, who was Trump's communications director at the time. "I should've gotten closer to sniff."

"The president of the United States, former president, decided to take legal advice from a drunk Rudy Giuliani over his entire senior campaign staff," added Griffin.
