Desperate Housewives alum Eva Longoria returns to ABC tonight as one of the driving forces behind the new prime time soap, Grand Hotel. Not only is she the show's executive producer, she will also direct and appear on camera in future episodes. A remake of the Spanish telenovela series (Gran Hotel), we can look forward to a summer run full of luxury, scandal, secrets and sex.

SERIES PREMIERE: Set at the last family-owned hotel in Miami Beach, Grand Hotel tells the story of the hotel-owning Mendoza family and their loyal staff. A soapy (or soapier) Downton Abbey set in modern-day Miami Beach, Demian Bechir stars as the hotel-owning patriarch with General Hospital's Bryan Craig as his hot young son. 10:00 PM ET on ABC

SPECIAL PRESENTATION: You have to appreciate an awards show that places TV and movie stars like Game of Thrones's Maisie Williams and Captain Marvel's Brie Larson into the same category (Best Hero).  Hosted by Shazam!'s Zachary Levi, the 2019 MTV Movie and Television Awards will also honor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with the "Generation" award, and Jada Pinkett Smith with the "Trailblazer" award. Props to MTV for recognizing documentaries (Minding the Gap; Surviving R. Kelly) alongside "Best Meme-able Moment" (which MUST go to Asia O'Hara's butterfly fail from the Drag Race finale). 9:00 PM ET on MTV

SEASON PREMIERE: Into each generation, some improv games must fall, and so the newest iteration of Whose Line Is It Anyway? kicks off its new season, with Aisha Tyler as host and season-premiere guest Chris Hardwick joining Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady, and Colin Mochrie. 9:00 PM ET on The CW

SERIES PREMIERE: Summer 2019 TV has something for everybody, and that includes enthusiasts of German submarine drama. Today, Hulu drops the first season (8 episodes) of Das Boot, a companion piece to the 1981 Wolfgang Petersen film about the crew aboard a German U-boat in the Battle of the Atlantic in World War II. The new series stars, among others, Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men), James D'Arcy (Agent Carter), Lizzy Caplan (Party Down), Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), and Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread).
